{ A sparrow Lucie dress}

mercredi 9 juillet 2014

I may have found THE summer dress pattern of my dreams!!
Perfect for really hot days, cute and pretty: please welcome the Lucie dress pattern by République du chiffon. It is an oversized summer dress wiht high waist and gathered skirt.

Et voilà! moi aussi j'ai succombé à la fièvre: République du chiffon!
Me voici donc avec ma version de la robe Lucie: une magnifique robe d'été, oversize, tellement confortable et très saillante!

I made the back line a little bit higher for my own comfort and modesty!!

j'ai remonté la ligne du dos pour mopn propre confort et aussi un peu par pudeur!!:)

I used Atelier Brunette: Sparrow fabric: so soft, so light!! a dream to sew my friends!!

J'ai utilisé ce magnifique tissu Hirondelles de Atelier Brunette chez Cousette.

And with my grumpy boy!!!:)
Just a little detail shot on the back piping:

Yes! I love this dress! If only the weather was nicer here!!! it has been raining for 3 days now!! talk about summer break!!
So : are you happy with your summer sewing?? any fun projects to share here??!
thanks for visiting!

    1. Thanks Kristi! I think you should get it anyway because there is not much explanations in the pattern. The pieces are pretty easy to sew together if you are used to gamrent construction. If ever you need translation you can always ask me!

  3. Loooove this!! Do these patterns include photos or illustrations? I am not good enough with French to figure out the text. :)

    1. HI Lauren! thanks for visiting!! the pattern has some drawings , no photos. I always find that french patterns have very little explanations compared to US patterns that are very thorough. a shame really! but you are experienced enough to sew this dress!

  5. Oh, what a coincidence, I made myself a dress last week using the same fabric! You can see it here: http://byevamaria.blogspot.be/2014/06/les-hirondelles-jadore.html

    2. I went to see your dress! love how you matched it with black knit! yes! we are all trend victims I guess! I had this fabric in my stash for a while and wanted to use it to make a jacket, but I saw on the internet someone made this same jacket with that same fabric!! so, I decided to make a dress out of it and I am so pleased I did!! thank you again for your sweet words: )

  6. I don't know that there are enough exclamation points to express my love for this dress!!! All your pretty dresses definitely have me second guessing my wardrobe. Your boy doesn't look very grumpy to me. I'm impressed that your kiddos are willing models at all. When I begin to approach with my camera they make me pay them in books. :-/

  7. Classe et confortable, que demander de plus?! ;)
    Elle te va très bien!

  10. Sophie, I love your dress, and your blog! I was hoping you could help me- I downloaded the pattern for Lucie but my French is so rusty so I was just trying to figure out construction from the pictures. I can't figure out whether, when you attach the skirt to the top, do you attach it to both the outer fabric and the lining, or did you just attach it to the outer fabric and handsew the lining down? Would you mind giving me some advice on this? Thank you so much in advance!!
