{ KCW: PART II : the Hanami dress }

dimanche 13 avril 2014

WOW!! KCW is over and I wish I had more time to sew! I made 3 garments in a week and this last one is not the least: a Hanami dress, a pattern by StraightGrain. I LOVE this pattern: so easy to follow thanks to the photo step by step instructions! I used some Art Gallery fabrics: here and here.  It is part of the Perfect Parcel #2: perfection indeed!

 I added bias binding to the hem, and sewed it so that there is a little bit showing :
  Le haut et le bas sont séparés par un passepoil pêche;
I added piping all around the waist
the back is closed with an invisible zipper:

The skirt is longer than the pattern requires, for my gril wanted a "princess dress"!
 I played with the adorable "flutter sleeves" : I wanted them to look like petals: I lined them with that peach print and alternated prints: top flutter is blue, bottom flutter is peach. I love that contrast:
 I am so happy with this dress. It was easy and fast too sew: pleasure form beginning to end!!

Fabrics from Hawthorne Threads , Art Gallery
Size: 7 for my 7 and 1/2 years olf girl
alterations: 2 colorway sleeves + piping at the waist + bias hems + longer skirt

have yourself a great sunday!
bon dimanche à toutes!

  9. Sophie, you made such a beautiful dress! The fabric is my current favorite (used it myself a few weeks ago) and it combines so well with the orange sleeves. Thank you so much for using my pattern (and thank you so your gorgeous model too - how photogenic can a girl be??)
