{ SUNDAY'S SIMPLE THINGS }

Sundays are good: my husband is home, I can get some sewing done in the morning while he plays football with te kids.
Summer is now truly upon us: lots of play time, less Me time i.e. less sewing time. 
But in the evenings I manage to sew this pillow cover, my firts ever pillow cover.
Earlier this week , my dear friend Patty Sloniger, posted a photo of a quilt as you go block she was sewing, inspired by this tutorial. I was hooked! 

 I pulled out of my stash all the scraps from her collections that I had from a previous project and from a great envelop she sent me earlier this year. 
And I just had fun.

I recently joined a Bible study group : It is something I never did before but the title caught my eye, and my heart.
We are working on Lysa Terkeust latest book : "I am messing up my kids?".
Great title , right?? And a question I ask myself about 100 times a month:!
SO yes, I thought, this Bible study is for me!!

{ MY BIZZY KID QUILT}

 If you follow me on Facebook, you might be aware that I am back into a quilting mood right now:!! I can't get enough.
There is something so relaxing and so rewarding in the whole quilting process... and unlike sewing garments, you don't have to worry about sizing and fit!!

SO! I finished my Bizzy Kid quilt! yay for me!  The pattern was made by Cluck Cluck sew and it is really great! Love it when it all goes smoothly!

I may have found THE summer dress pattern of my dreams!!
Perfect for really hot days, cute and pretty: please welcome the Lucie dress pattern by République du chiffon. It is an oversized summer dress wiht high waist and gathered skirt.

Et voilà! moi aussi j'ai succombé à la fièvre: République du chiffon! 
Me voici donc avec ma version de la robe Lucie: une magnifique robe d'été, oversize, tellement confortable et très saillante!

A well made pattern, a quick project, some of the softest and coolest fabric, that's all it takes to make a Mama and his boy HAPPY!

Summer break will be her on FRIDAY (squeal!!) and all I want right now is quick and rewarding projects to start our holidays!

Un patron tout simple, un tissu ultra doux, absolument parfait pour mon boy..

C'est le début de l'été et sa douce nonchalance...

 I was inspired by my sweet friend Annika and her "KID Shorts" series to sew shorts for my boy. 

I went ahead and bought the KID short pattern. 

I love that very easy pattern, and love the fact that all the explanations and various versions are all explained on the MADE blog.

Le patron est celui de KID shorts de MADE et le tissu vient de la collection en flanelle bio de Made by Rae.... tellement doux! argh!

 

 I used Made By Rae's Fanfare flannel... swoon!

I made my own bias from the white flannel of this collection.

I got myself yards from the whole collection this winter!! naughty I know!! 

but did you see the new colors that have been added??? arriving in august... oh I can't resist! 

 

 

 

These are the softest shorts ever!! 

And there will be many more pairs, with pockets for sure!:) 

 

 

 Oui, je sais, ce n'est qu'un short sans difficulté, rien de bien spécial.. mais ces photos me rendent heureuse et j'aime quand des expériences aussi simples que celles-ci me rendent heureuse.. comme un enfant.

I know: these are just the simplest shorts, nothing fancing, super simple sewing....

But these photos make me smile.... and I like to be happy over simple things.... like a child.

 

{ Pattern testing // Coachella shorts pattern by Sriped Swallow designs }

I am so so very excited today to share with you my TESTER version of the Coachella shorts pattern!
Mandalynn , the creator of this beauty is a fellow member of the Pattern Worshop and I am so proud of her!
This pattern is perfect in every way!
When I opened the file in Adobe I went "Oh" and "Ah"! for it is so pretty to look at: the colors and photos are great, the explanations are thorough and, really,  this is the perfect project for summer; quick, easy and OH SO CUTE!!

J'ai la chance d'avoir pu tester le premier patron de Mandalynn de Striped Swallow Designs: les shorts Coachella! C'est un délice à coudre: un projet rapide et très satisfaisant, totalement rétro et adorable. Parfait pour préparer l'été.

The Adobe features that Mandalynn used allow you to print ONLY the size you need! how great is that!:) She also added many details and tools that make the whole sewing process fast and so very  pleasant.

Je ne peux que recommander ce patron dont les explications, la mise en page et les phtoos sont d'une grande qualité. Adobe facilite grandement le travail, notamment parce qu'il est possible d'imprimer uniquement la taille qui vous intéresse. Moi je trouve cette idée géniale! 

I made 2 versions and honestly if it wasn't for work and kids I would still be making more:
I started on friday at 10 am and had finished my second pair at 3 pm!!

SO! yes I do recommend this pattern! It is a fun, quick and easy pattern so girly! Perfect for a summer project!
