{ KID'S CLOSES WEEK : PART I }

Well ! I did it! I sewed with Jersey!! yay!!
well it did take a test version thrown in the bin and a lot lot lot of swear words!! but I did make it!!

My machine was kind of "eating" my fabric when I used my walking foot.
SO I changed foot and then I was literaly saved by a tutorial by Jess of the Sewing Rabbit advising to use paper under your fabric as you sew!! and it was a HAAAAAAAAAAAAAA moment!
No more swear words! no more puckers! it all went smoothly!!

Bon ça y est je me suis lancée: j'ai cousu avec du jersey!! 

Bon je ne vais pas vous mentir: au départ : le cauchemar total! 

Ma première version test a fini à la poubelle et je crois avoir utilisé l'ensemble du panel de gros mots que j'ai à mon actif!!

Mais après avoir recommencé, changé de tissu, de pied sur ma machine et après avoir lu ça: tout c'est soudain éclairé!!:) 

Alors j'ai réussi à coudre un Figgy Celestial Tee, inclus dans le Perfect pattern parcel 2.

 I used this very sweet and fresh jersey that is not too stretchy and I love it!

  

I love the plunging back hem line: so modern if you ask me!

j’adore la ligne plongeante du dos: super moderne!

 

AND I used a double needle for the first time!! this thing is so awesome!!

Et j'ai utilisé une éiguille jumelé pour la première fois! le coup de foudre autant vous dire!!:)

 

 oh yes another happy moment!

Now onto the second garment: I finished the Knight Hoodie for my cousin's son: you can see the version I made for my son here. This one uses the exact same fabric (as requested by my cousin!) it is a size 6 and it is all finished :

{ WHAT'S UP, DOC? }

 #1 Firstly this week has been terribly tiring!! I have hardly managed to stay awake! I was so tired all week! let's blame it all on the time change we had last sunday...

bon d'abord.. cette semaine a été terrible: disons que  c'est la faute du changement d'heure, même si ça fait vieille mémé de le dire!!

"2: I have been sewing a new knight hoodie, for my cousin's son. 

Can't wait to send it to them! hopefully on tuesday!

J'ai quand même réussi à réceptionner le tissu pour un nouveau gilet chevalier: tissu reçu, lavé, coupé, et presque cousu!! Il ne reste plus qu'à assembler les différentes parties: celui-ci est pour le fils de ma cousine, un petit boy de 5 ans! j'ai hâte de pouvoir leur envoyer! mardi, si tout va bien!

  

#3 I got the Perfect Pattern Parcel 2 and I am so excited about it: all girl's close patterns! and many  I wanted anyway.

J'ai acheté ce lot de patron: 6 patrons pour fille, tous plus adorables les uns que les autres!! ce qui est bien avec ce système c'est que cela permet de soutenir des designers indépendants ET une partie de l'argent va à une organisation caritative qui soutien l'éducation des enfants en difficulté. On peut choisir combien on veut payer: de 15$ à 44$. 

Que du bon donc! et ça tombait à pic pour....

#4 It was perfect timing to sign up for Kid's Close week, which starts tomorrow!! It will be my frist time! the idea is to dedicate at least 1 hour a day to sewing for your kids!! a great idea if you ask me!!:)

I am all set up: patterns are chosen (thanks to Perfect Pattern parcel!) , fabric is washed and ready to be cut and sewn!

"Kid's Close week": la semaine  des vêtements pour enfants! 

Le principe: pendant une semaine, on s'engage à coudre au moins 1 heure par jour  pour nos petits!! un engagement très agréable à tenir si vous voulez mon avis! Je suis prête: tissus lavés et patrons choisis!! allez ! on y va!!!!

Rejoingez-nous!! on devrait être plusieurs centaines à coudre en même temps!

{ A BRAND NEW SKIRT / JUPE PERLE DE NACRE }

 Ce livre: Grains de couture.......
Le livre est magnifique! 
Au départ j'avais craqué sur cette robe, vue chez Jolies Bobines alias Julie.C'est pour cette raison que j'avais acheté le livre. Comme c'est une variante de la jupe Perle de nacre, j'ai commencé par faire la jupe! 

It all started when I got this french sewing book, and this great project notebook.
First I wanted to make this dress, an alteration of the skirt pattern, so I decided to try my hands out on the skirt first. And I love it!

 Et franchement j'adore! je suis conquise par la classe de cette jupe. 
Le tissu que j'ai utilisé, de la gabardine (Cousette) , est tellement douce et le tombé est très sympa.

I chose a thick cotton fabric and it is so so soft to wear!

 

Does it not go perfectly with my zipper top? (and with my very white legs!!:) 

 

 Pour l'intérieur de la ceinture , des poches j'ai utilisé  un reste de coupon de Liberty Betsy Porcelaine (Cousette)

Inside the belt and pockets I used some Liberty Betsy :

 

 Je crois que je ne ferai plus jamais d'ourlet sans faire un ourlet rapporté: la finition et le tombé en sont tellement améliorés. J'ai coupé le Betsy dans le biais pour le rajouter au bas de la jupe:

And I cut some bias binding out to add to the hem: I love this way of finishing a garment: to be honest I don't think I would do it any other way anymore!!

{ LIBERTY ZIPPER TOP }

A bit of self sewing!! yay!
and when I get to sew some awesome Liberty

 

 and a very cool pattern, well , I could not be happier!
 This pattern by See kate sew is the perfect addition to your spring wardrobe: simple, easy, fashionable with its visible zipper. And there are so many ways to make it your own. I am planning a different version very soon.

Un peu de couture pour moi!! ah ça fait du bien , surtout quand c'est avec un coupon de Liberty Betsy fluo et un patron mignon-facile-rapide et tendance!!:)
C'est le cas de ce "zipper top" de kate (See kate sew) : le top idéal pour le printemps et que l'on peut adapter à sa façon: j'ai déjà des idées pour une version personnalisée.

Le tombé est très sympa et j'aime beucoup le détail de la fermeture éclair apparente!
un 20 / 20 donc pour ce patron.

Voici donc , ENFIN, ma première cousette en tant que membre du club de The sewing Rabbit!

The pattern is so easy to follow thanks to the photo step by step tutorial. 

I sewed with sweatshirt fleece for the first time and it went fine.

 The details on the shoulders and arms are so much fun:

 and the hood really does look like a helmet!!

La capuche ressemble à un heaume! 

 I lined the hood with some Botanics cotton fabric:

J'ai doublé la capuche avec un tissu de la collection Botanics 

 and my knight-boy loves it!! (check out the "bas boy" look!!)

et mon petit chevalier adore: la classe , le look bad boy non???

 

size 4 for my 4 year old boy/ taille 4 ans pour mon petit de 4 ans 1/2 (juste à sa taille! il en faudra un autre pour la rentrée!!)
