{ Scrappy saturday: Party }

samedi 25 avril 2015

Who does not like a grid?
I had fun with Hip Kit April Kits :  those chipboard frames were calling for a grid and lots of embellishments!

So I chose a bunch of pink/ yellow/ aqua and just played around, layering and stitching.

  I like craft with yellow and pink: it makes them pop in a happy way.

It looks carefree but it took me a while to find a place for everything and to finally be happy with that layout. I guess I need a bit more time to find my confidence again!
I usually keep a notepad on which I draw sketches, and I also get inspired by my favorite scrapbookers. But I tend to over think the deisngs of my page, always searching for something new to make! maybe I should just relax!!!

Are you struggling with page designs? How does it work for you? how do you get inspired?

{ Scrappy sunday // why I sew for you }

dimanche 19 avril 2015

Happy sunday everyone!
I hope you had a relaxing sunday! Mine was spent waiting at the horse riding club for my girl to do a jumping competition and then to recieve her price! she ended up winning in her category , so I guess that was worth the while of waiting 4 hours in the wind!!:)

This girl has my heart!! she is the cutest one and the funniest too! and what a chatter box! Always talking and making stories up.

I made this layout to document how much I like to sew for her.
I used the March Hip Kit club kit.
I knew I wanted a long journaling and I aso wanted to incorportate these 3 photos. So I cut bits of patterned papers to the size of my photos and then layered them, and stitched them with my sewing machine.
Then I hid some of the photos under a piece of vellum to tame the whole layout down.

Papers and emebellishements are mostly Crate Paper and American Crafts. I am crazy about both!  That little sewing machine from Crate Paper was just spot on for me!!:=)

 Of course there is a little bit of stitching going on here!!:)
I fussy cut the "&" from a Crate Paper sheet. Oh how I enjoyed this process!
I am now working with the April Kits. There are filled with fun colors.

The story of this dress is a dramatic one!!
It took me ages to make the dress my girl wears on that photo: I altered the pattern and took ages to make it. It was perfect. Blandine wore it once and then I washed it. Tragically, the washing machine "ate" it! it was an old machine and the dress got destroyed in it!

Would you believe me if I say we both cried??! true story!
I made this layout because I want my girl to remember that even though we lost this dress, I hope she will remember how beautiful she was in it, and how much love I put in making this dress for her!
I also want her to know that her beauty does not depend on what she wears but on what she is inside.

{ How long do you want to be loved? a Hip Kit Club layout }

vendredi 10 avril 2015

 These two... they are so close. always together, playing, chatting, sleeping in the same room as often as they are allowed, fighting too!

I was listening to this song last time, an old lullaby called "Lullaby" sang by Edie Crey and Sarah Sample and it sang:
"How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough
'Cause I am never never giving you up "
I thought it was totally appropriate for their sibling love and for the love I feel for them.

{ Scrappy saturday: "Limited edition" }

samedi 4 avril 2015

 It is spring, well, it is supposed to be spring!
But it feels like winter and we are still wearing heavy jackets and boots and having lots of indoors activities.It means more time inside for me too, so I got to indulge in some scrapbooking last week!

This layout documents my boy's " right now"s!
# Even though we tried to avoid the Pokemon fever as long as we could, sadly school did the job and now he is kind of obsessed by these silly monsters!
# He still loves his bedtime stories but he is getting more and more independant.
# He now knows how to tie his shoelaces, and has started to read words in capital letters. He is so eager to learn anything, really.

For this layout, again, I dig in my stash and played with some Basic Grey papers, some Crate Paper vellum and tags and some newer Teresa Collins cutouts .

I swear the photo really does not do justice to the layout that is much more cute in person!

Tomorrow my Blandine is getting baptised. I am so excited for her. It shall be the start of  a great adventure!
Have yourself a beautiful and peaceful Easter week-end.

{ scrappy sunday // Falling back in love }

dimanche 29 mars 2015

Well, you guys, I am IN LOVE again! Totally falling back in love again with scrapbooking.
Even though I lack confidence and I need to find my eye for design again.
Still I am IN LOVE.

Here is the first page I made after a whole year of break and it felt so good to pull out some of these Dear Lizzy Serendipity papers and some of my favorite Crate paper embellishements as well as the last sheet of white cardstock left over from last year!! I did a massive restock of white paper since, as well as a few other papers and stickers that are just so yummy!

I did not do too much thinking for this page, I just had fun!!

I don't even remember why I stopped doing this?? Total amnesia!!
How did it happen?? Because this last week, making this page, and another one I will show you soon and that is a little bit more elaborate in my taste,  I felt so much joy. Scrapbooking  also helps me to feel  grateful about my life. It is just all good!!

{ Scrapbooking: I am back for good! }

lundi 23 mars 2015

 As I am totally in the mood to scrap, and before I can show you my first ever layout since last year (which is almost finished!) , I thought it would be nice to show you the very last 2 pages I made a year ago.
 See the date: 01 march 2014! that was the last time I scrapbooked. It took me a whole year to feel the need to create again.
This layout was included in an article I wrote for the french scrapbooking magazine: "Esprit Scrapbooking" on how to scrapbook portraits creatively.

{ Getting inspired - a Crate Paper layout }

mardi 9 juillet 2013

This Week , over at Crate Paper blog we are celebrating and getting inspired!

We got to choose and image an show how we were inspired by it to create a layout or a project.

I was inspired by these triangles:

                                               photo credit: http://thatshappy.blogspot.fr/

to create this graphic background on my page:

I added a fun "cross-words "title: that actually reads: horse party june XO

I love this tag from Maggie Holmes collection:

 You can got and check out what the other DT members created: here

{ JUNE LOVE: a Crate Paper and Elle's Studio layout }

mercredi 26 juin 2013

I wanted to document my new passion for sewing.
Just a fun layout, mayde in no time at all!
Just wanted to make a cool background :
I cut one sheet of Crate Paper paper in pieces and randomly placed them and sewed them on white cardstock, then layered my photo and added these circles and chipboard "clothes line" bits.

The title is made out of 2 Elle's Studio tags and all the other items are from Crate Paper The Pier

My journaling is printed on vellum and stitched on the paper.

Have a great day

Sophie

bonjour amis francophones

{ week-end creations! / Une page et une petite cousette }

samedi 1 juin 2013

 This week-end is a very relaxing one!

I finished this layout this morning: CRATE PAPER the Pier , everywhere (except for the feather: Studio Calico).

This collection really calls for CLUSTERING of embellishments!

And to continue with my sewing projects: I made a little pouch for me, with dividers for credit card and cash, (Fabric: Liverty Lofestyle) and another one for my girl in a more simple fabric (Color Me Retro for Art Fabrics) . You can find a fabulous and easy to follow tutorial here

hope you are enjoying your week-end!
hugs

bonjour amis francophones!

allez bon week-end!

{ Books ( right in the middle) : a Crate Paper layout }

mercredi 10 avril 2013

I have been recently attracted to layouts that use a design with a centered layout : I have spotted them on Pinterest (here or here or here)  and wanted to make my own version of this "right in the middle design":
 I started with 2 squares of patterned paper and played with the bounderies they created:
 the circles are a necessity  to "break" the otherwise two square design:

I used a combination of Maggie Holmes and DIY Shop collections with a tad of Party Day and played with 3 colors: yellow, red and blue.

I also used a LOT Of 3D adhesive here to combine different embellishements and create dimension on my layout:

It looks clustered .. but for me it is all in the details!

 I hope you love it as much as I do and that you will be inspired to create your own "right in the middle layout"!!

If you do I would love to see your creation!!

have a great day
hugs
sophie

bonjour amis francophones

allez bon mercredi
